How to Prepare for Your Appointment

Before Your Appointment

Set yourself up for a successful consultation with these simple steps:

Complete Your Intake Forms Prior to your session, please fill out your intake forms and create your Practice Better account. This secure platform allows us to communicate effectively and share essential documents before and after your appointment.
Gather Supplies for Pumping or Bottle Feeding If pumping or bottle feeding will be part of your consultation, make sure all necessary supplies are clean and easily accessible.
Plan Your Baby’s Feeding Schedule If possible, try not to feed your baby for about an hour before our session. If your baby is hungry, you may offer a small feed to settle them, just enough to keep them content until we can observe a full feed together.
Choose a Comfortable, Quiet Space Select a well-lit and quiet area in your home where you can feel relaxed and focused during the session.
Prepare Questions and Concerns Take a moment to jot down any specific questions or concerns you would like to address. This helps ensure we cover everything that is most important to you.

Here is what you can expect during our time together:

Arrival Time Depending on your location and travel conditions, I will arrive within 30 minutes of the scheduled appointment time.
Assessment and Discussion We will start by reviewing your intake information, followed by a thorough feeding and lactation assessment. We will then discuss the questions and concerns you have shared.
Feeding Observation Whenever possible, I like to observe a feeding during the session. However, if your baby is not ready to feed or requires attention for other concerns, we will adapt. Your observations and securely submitted photos or videos can also provide invaluable insights.
Developing Strategies Together, we will explore strategies to support your feeding goals and make any necessary adjustments during the session. While some improvements may be immediate, others may take time and ongoing support. I will meet you where you are and work with you step-by-step toward meaningful progress.
Comfort and Safety Your comfort, both physical and emotional, is a top priority. If anything feels uncomfortable during the session, please do not hesitate to communicate how you are feeling.
Planning and Payment At the end of our session, we will review a plan going forward. Payment and invoicing will be completed at that time.

Our support does not end when the session does. Here is how I will continue to assist you afterward:

Care Plan Within 24 hours, you will receive a written care plan outlining the recommendations discussed during your consultation.
Follow-Up Questions If you require additional clarification or have follow-up questions, you are welcome to message me through the secure Practice Better platform. I aim to respond within 24 hours. Messaging support is available for 1 week following your appointment.
Urgent Needs For urgent concerns or medical needs, please reach out to your primary care provider.
